Lesley Beth "Hi, I'm Lesley Beth and I'm a teacher. I created Jazzles because I am passionate about teaching children to read.

Jazzles provides a fast enjoyable way to establish phonemic awareness and letter knowledge including the relationship between letters and sounds as represented in print.

The Jazzles approach is to provide an entertaining focus on sound-letter-sound relationships using multi sensory activities - involving visual, auditory, kinesthetic and tactile experiences.

You will find that the Jazzles songs with alliterative lyrics, humor and fun extension activities in this Teacher's Kit, provides children with ALL the audio AND visual cues necessary for initial sound-letter understanding.

With this basic understanding , children can usually confidently move forward in learning to read and write words.

As an experienced teacher, I know it is much better to help children learn through fun than rote! So I have included just a few quotes from the thousands of teachers using Jazzles resources who enjoy making early reading readiness a fun experience." ... Lesley Beth

"You have an excellent product

The CD design; the ease of use by teachers, parents and children; the choice of vocabulary; the phrase structures, the phonemic awareness which is built in: the many opportunities to enlarge on the vocabulary through the additional optional activities.

I literally have my Jazzles CD with me every day. My students especially love the "cC" (Clever Kid) - song because there are many things which they can't do yet but it also talks about the things they can do."

" Lesley, Yes I did receive my Jazzles CD. In fact, I think it arrived 2 days after I ordered it! I am a speech-language pathologist in elementary and high school settings. I started teaching basic phonemic awareness to the autistic students in the elementary school. (Just sound-symbol relationships). I have a few other CD's which I had purchased, but I couldn't find anything that covered all 26 letters and sounds. SO I was searching the internet, found the Jazzles CD, listened to the sample songs and had to buy it. Thank you. Marcia "

For the youngest, the Jazzles lyrics with few words and a lot of repetition work the best. The activity books come in handy, too. Thank you very much, Lesley, and wish you all the best! Marjorie "

Why Choose Jazzles?

'Singing to Learn' is an extremely effective and rapid learning technique. Jazzles is unique in that it has highly alliterative, amusing lyrics with meaning, supported by 5 integrated activity books that encourage children to use multiple learning styles.
You will find the Jazzles lyrics, accompanied by jazzy upbeat music, appeal strongly to children's imagination and are naturally memorized. The outcome is that children recall easily the sounds of each letter to register an outstanding speed in learning language.

1. Using Jazzles Alphabet CD-CDROM

Collage letter 'D'

i). Show children the letter they are going to learn.
(Reference the large letter in the Collage Book.)

ii) Play the CD and learn the relevant song.
Add movement, drama, clapping, clicks
or instruments
as appropriate.

Coloring Page Letter 'D'
iii) From the CD, print the relevant Coloring Page to discuss the meaning of the lyrics and so build comprehension of the words.

Song Lyrics Letter 'D'
iv) From the CD, print the relevant Song Lyric Page and let children highlight all the initial sounds. Help your children point to each word as they sing the song.

2. Using Jazzles Alphabet Collage Book

This book provides tactile, fun collage suggestions for each alphabet letter.Encourage children to completely collage the whole area of each letter. This will help their understanding of letter shapes. Many Jazzles collage suggestions also help children link words of textural materials to the target letter.

Hanging word Bank

When you collage, use lightweight materials. For heavier collage materials, photocopy the page and mount it on card before collaging.

Suggested lightweight materials include:

  • From the kitchen - flour, coconut, poppy and sesame seeds, dried herbs, pot-pourri, sugar, chocolate powder, cake decorating materials.
  • From about the home - all varieties of fabric, lace, cottons, wools, ribbons, cotton wool, stickers, glitter, colored paper and picture areas from newspapers and magazines.
  • From the environment - grass, leaves, soil, fine sand, small seeds and flower petals.
  • Also add scented oils like lavender oil for the letter 'L', to add the sense of smell.

3. Using Jazzles Alphabet Activity Sheets Book

Letter W word activity sheet

This book is full of cutting, pasting, coloring, tracing and reading activities that relate to the relevant song. These activities provide children with practical experience in the use of each letter in a variety of reading and writing experiences to further develop their understanding of sound-letter relationships.

Letter B word Cut-Outs

The book's activities are graded in difficulty if taught in the suggested order for teaching the letters. This order is arranged in groupings of one vowel to several consonants.

4. Using the Dictionary - Collecting and Recording Words Alphabetically.

It is important for children learning to read, write and spell that they create their own personal collection of most loved and commonly used words.

This book enables children to collect, order and record initial words alphabetically.

Arranging words into their own dictionary creates a valuable resource children can use - while developing a variety of other dictionary skills essential to their future learning.

Each letter of the alphabet has its own page plus there are 8 pages for gathering 'theme related' words.

Although this book stands on its own, it is best used in association with the Jazzles 'Alphabet Clever Songs' CD and its song lyrics.

Use these Jazzles Products for:-

i). Children ready to learn letters and their sounds.

ii). Children who enjoy entertaining songs and 'hands-on' activities, movements and drama.

iii).Children aged 3-8. However, it is never too early to begin reading readiness!

iv). Children experiencing difficulty with structured learning

v). Children with learning disabilities.

v). ESL students. Make learning English easier using Jazzles 'Sing to Learn' technique to achieve superior pronunciation and understanding.

Note:- Braille lyrics in Grade 2 text, DXB format -available free as electronic file. Just send an email request to me - Lesley Beth
